Chicken soup "floaties"?

I cant think of what else to call them, its the white stuff that gathers at the surface of the water when boiling chicken, which I usually scoop off. However, ive already added the onions celery per the recipes instruction. Im question is, can I leave the white stuff? Scooping it out would mean I would have to removed much of the vegetables. Im making the Paula Deen chicken and dumpling recipe. Thanks!
